Match report courtesy of Manager Andy Malthouse
There were a lot of emotions after yesterdays game and I have held off writing a report so I could get my head around them.
Firstly, my apology for being a little angry at times yesterday. All my doing mind you. We can sometimes put too much of one self into a game that emotions will boil over and the end result is never pretty.
In summary, the game was a great result for the team. We did most things right and the things we didn’t do right were small and a good opportunity for us to learn by.
We eventually won 14 to 10, and to be honest, that was a surprise for me. I thought it was a lot closer than it was going into the bottom of the last or I would have thrown Timbo.
After a slow start, we were down 4 to 5 after 3 innings and that’s when we fired up. They were a level below us and I guess that’s what got me fired up. We are better than that. The next two innings proved it with us scoring 7 and 3 to take a 9 run lead into the bottom of the last.
With me on the mound, they then smashed 8 hits in a row and most of them good hits. They managed to score 5 before some bad base running for them ended there run. Can’t remember seeing a game end by a hit by batted ball before but thank god it did. I was spent. The arm was still recovering from last week and to make matters worse, I had slightly pulled my hammy again.
In summary, we hit really well again, pitching was a bit off this week so we may have to rest some arms going forward.
Even with a slow start, we won most of the offensive stats. We both had 14 hits, 9 of there’s coming in the last inning with -5 bats. We stole 13 bases to their 1. We had one less error to them and we threw only 5 walks to their 9.
Standouts this week:
Paul – Great turn around 2 from 2 with 2 walks, 3 RBI’s
Timbo – 0 from 0 with 4 walks
Gavin – 2 doubles, 1 HPB
Donk – 2 from 4, 2 steals
Luke – 1 from 4
Mozz – 2 from 4
